Lake Effect Snow Advisories continue for Tompkins and S. Cayuga Counties as the lake effect snow continues to come off of Lake Ontario. The band is currently stretching from Oswego to Syracuse to Cortland, with flurries outside the main area. This band will weaken and fall apart through the morning as winds become less favorable for lake effect. This change of winds will be the result of an approaching clipper system that will spread some light snow across the region tonight into tomorrow morning. No more than an inch of two is expected from that. More importantly, however, will be the reinforcing shot of cold air it will bring in. Highs Thursday will struggle to reach 30, with upper 20s Friday and Saturday with a renewal of lake effect snows. The lake effect will again shut down during the afternoon Saturday, and we should see some sun for the end of the weekend before a potent storm makes its way towards us for the first part of next week. Stay tuned.
